I went to Penn State and graduated with a BS in Electrical Engineering. There I met my first wife Sherrie Lynn Schultz at my fraternity Phi Kappa Theta. We settled in Bethel Park, PA and had our two girls, Jessica and Nicole. I started my career as a Field Electrical Engineer for US Steel overseeing new installation projects in the various mills around Pittsburgh. After 3 years in the field I was moved to the US Steel Headquarters building on Grant St. Two years later US Steel laid off their entire engineering staff. Bob Hailstone worked for a Motion Control company called Control Systems Research (CSR) and invited me to check them out. I worked for CSR for 14 years as an Application Engineer, Product Manager, and Marketing Manager.
In 1996 I took a job with GE Fanuc as a Motion Control Product Manager and we moved to Charlottesville, VA. Compared to Pittsburgh the weather here is awesome, especially seeing the sun in the winter and very little snow! It has been a great place to raise a family and both my daughters settled here so I'm close to my daughter's kids (Chloe, Carter, Hudson and Flynn).
I lost my wife Sherrie to colon cancer in 2007 at 49. In 2014 I joined Elder Research, a data science consultancy, as Director of Marketing. In 2017 I reconnected with Terri. She and her family used to live in my neighborhood and her daughter Sabrina and my daughter Nicole were best friends in middle school. When the girls were rising 9th graders Terri’s family moved about 3 hours away to Christiansburg, VA. After she returned to Charlottesville in 2017 we started hanging out as friends for several years going to movies, having dinner, or meeting for drinks. In November 2022 we got engaged on a sunset sail in Key West and in July 2023 we got married in a surprise wedding while gathering with family and friends under the guise of a combined birthday celebration for her son Patrick and me. In April 2024 we honeymooned in Grand Case, St Martin.
Terri's daughter Sabrina lives in Greensboro, NC (they moved from NYC during COVID) and has four children; three girls and a boy. Terri's son Patrick and his wife Abby just gave birth in November 2024 to our ninth grandchild (5 boys and 4 girls). We are truly blessed.
In 2014 I retired. Terri works for Truist Bank as a Client Services Associate supporting Financial Investment Advisors. I love playing tennis, babysitting my grands, traveling and going to movies. Life is good!
